Prof James Kraska
James Kraska is Charles H. Stockton Professor of International Maritime Law and Chair of the Stockton Center for International Law at the U.S. Naval War College, Visiting Professor of Law and John Harvey Gregory Lecturer on World Organization at Harvard Law School, and Visiting Professor of Law at Reading University. He also served as Visiting Professor at the College of Law, University of the Philippines, and Distinguished Visiting Professor at Gujarat National Law University. Previously he was Mary Derrickson McCurdy Visiting Scholar at Duke University Marine Laboratory and Chief of Naval Research Fellow at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. He is General Editor of International Law Studies and the editor-in-chief of the treatise, Benedict on Admiralty: International Maritime Law. Professor Kraska earned both professional and research doctorates in law and served as a U.S. Navy officer and lawyer, with multiple tours of duty in Japan and the Pentagon. He is a Permanent Member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
