Wing Commander Janine Fetchik is a legal officer in the Royal Australian Air Force. Since commissioning in 2007, her postings have included roles in joint operations, air operations (surveillance, response, and air combat) and as a Chief of Staff. In a deployed setting, Janine has advised on detention and targeting operations in support of the Australian Commander in Afghanistan and as part of the Australian Air Task Group operating in Iraq and Syria. She has also deployed in support of air surveillance operations in northern Australia and South East Asia, as well as air control operations in Papua New Guinea during the Asia Pacific Economic Forum in 2018.

Janine holds a Masters of Law, a Graduate Diploma of Military Law, and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the Australian National University, as well as a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Adelaide. She is an enthusiastic student of French and holds a B1 Diploma issued under the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
