Dr Kenneth Wyne Mutuma

Dr Kenneth Wyne Mutuma is a senior lecturer at the University of Nairobi, School of Law with more than ten years teaching experience. He lends his knowledge in International Humanitarian Law and related subjects to academia, government and civil society groups in both Eastern and Southern Africa. Dr. Wyne has previously served as a legal officer at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) where he was instrumental in the implementation of UNHCR’s policy in respect of refugees in the Great Lakes and Horn of Africa. He also worked as a legal officer for the Nairobi and Pretoria Delegations of the ICRC where he supported the promotion of different aspects of international law in conflict situations. In addition, he has worked with the Nelson Mandela Foundation developing the capacity of governmental bodies and civil society groups in the areas of conflict resolution and ethical leadership.

Dr. Wyne holds several academic qualification including a PhD on the challenges of outsourcing war to private entities. He is the author of “International Humanitarian Law: Themes From Africa”, a publication which brings a sharp focus on IHL related debates within the context of the African continent.
