Colonel Nate Bankson currently serves as the Senior National Security Law Observer, Coach, Trainer for the Army’s Mission Command Training Program where he helps legal teams at Corps and Army Service Component Commands better represent their clients in the national security law space. Recent assignments include Staff Judge Advocate for U.S. Army Cadet Command and Fort Knox; Chief of Strategic Engagements for the National Security Law Division of the Office of The Judge Advocate General; Teaching Fellow at the International Institute for Humanitarian Law; Staff Judge Advocate for Special Operations Joint Task Force, Operation Inherent Resolve; and Deputy Staff Judge Advocate for First Special Forces Command (Airborne). Colonel Bankson has extensive experience in national security law matters advising leaders in special operations and conventional units at the tactical to strategic levels. Colonel Bankson brings context from three combat deployments to his training method. Colonel Bankson has served as an adjunct professor at the United States Military Academy, a regular trainer for the Defense Institute for International Legal Studies, a guest speaker for the Geneva Center for Security Policy, and he provides law of armed conflict training to future Army Battalion Commanders at their pre-command course.
