Arjen Vermeer
Arjen Vermeer is Assistant Professor of Military Law at the Netherlands Defence Academy. He is also conducting his Ph.D. research at the University of Amsterdam on the legal consequences for states under international law for the provision of satellite data by commercial entities in support of a party to an international armed conflict. Prior he held various teaching positions, worked as an arbitrator for an international sports federation and as a consultant on legal and policy issues for national and international clients. He is the founder and former editor-in-chief of the Journal of International Humanitarian Legal Studies and worked for several years as assistant to a Special Rapporteur of the UN International Law Commission.
Arjen holds an LL.M and MA from the University of Leiden and an LL.M from the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights.
