Dr J.F.R. (Hans) Boddens Hosang
Dr J.F.R. (Hans) Boddens Hosang is Head of International Law in the Netherlands Ministry of Defense. He holds a Ph.D. in international law from the University of Amsterdam. Within the Ministry, his responsibilities include international humanitarian law, human rights law, and law of the sea, as well as national and international criminal law. He also advises on issues concerning weapons and ammunition, partly as secretary of the Advisory Commission on International Law and Conventional Weapons (the Article 36 review mechanism in the Netherlands). In addition, he is a lecturer at the University of Leiden, researcher at the University of Amsterdam and at the Netherlands Defense Academy, and publishes frequently on topics of international law.
