Simon Bagshaw is a Policy Advisor with Article 36, a UK-based specialist non-profit organization focused on reducing harm from weapons. Prior to this, he was a Senior Policy Advisor with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Geneva and New York. He worked for OCHA for 18 years, developing OCHA and broader UN policy on the protection of civilians in armed conflict and was the principal drafter of the UN Secretary-General’s reports to the Security Council on the protection of civilians from 2007-2020. He holds a Ph.D in Law from the European University Institute in Florence (Italy).
