Commander Aaron Waldo is currently assigned as Sensitive Programs Counsel at OJAG, Code 10.

CDR Waldo earned a B.A. in Political Science and History from George Washington University in 2005. Following college, he earned his J.D. and LL.M. in International Law at Cornell Law School. He commissioned in August 2007 through the Student Program.

After Officer Development School and Naval Justice School, CDR Waldo reported to Region Legal Service Office Mid-Atlantic in2009 where he served as the Deputy Staff Judge Advocate to Commander, Navy Region Mid-Atlantic and then as a trial counsel. In 2011, he deployed to Rule of Law Field Force-Afghanistan and was stationed in Helmand Province with the 1/9 and 2/6 Marines. In 2012, CDR Waldo redeployed and reported to Strategic Communications Wing ONE/Task Force-124 onboard Tinker AFB, OK as the Staff Judge Advocate. In July 2014, he reported to Naval Special Warfare Group TEN as the intelligence and operational law judge advocate. From July 2015 to January 2016, CDR Waldo deployed as Staff Judge Advocate and Tribal Resistance Officer to Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force-Iraq. In July 2017, CDR Waldo detached NSWG-10 and reported to the National Security Law Division of the Office of the Judge Advocate General (OJAG), serving as the Head of the Law of the Sea and Law of Armed Conflict Departments. In 2020, CDR Waldo reported to Carrier Strike Group 5 in Yokosuka, Japan, serving as the Staff Judge Advocate during three deployments to FIFTH and SEVENTH Fleets. In 2022, CDR Waldo detached CSG-5 and reported to the National Security Law Division of OJAG as the Sensitive Programs Counsel.

CDR Waldo’s decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2), and Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3).
