CPT Hyun Jin Cho
Hyun Jin Cho is a Captain in the United States Army and an Instructor in the Department of Law and Philosophy at the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he teaches Philosophy and Ethical Reasoning (PY201).
Before joining the faculty at West Point, Captain Cho served in a number of assignments in FORSCOM, INDOPACOM, and TRADOC, including as battery commander, fire support officer, and battery executive officer. Prior to his commissioned service, Captain Cho was an enlisted technician in the U.S. Army Finance Corps.
Captain Cho is a graduate of the Field Artillery Captain’s Career Course and Basic Officer Leader Course, Joint Collateral Damage Estimation Course, Joint Firepower Course, Joint Fires Observer Course, and the Officer Candidate School. He earned an A.B. in Philosophy and Russian from Middlebury College, a J.D. from Duke Law School, and an M.A. in Philosophy from Columbia University.
His research interests include ancient Greek philosophy, just war theory, and the philosophy of law and punishment.
