Captain (CPT) Andrew Augustus Whitlock III currently serves as an administrative law and national security law attorney at U.S. Army North (Fifth Army) at JBSA Fort Sam Houston, Texas. In his last position, he served as the Senior Defense Counsel (SDC) for Trial Defense Services (TDS) at Fort Sam Houston for over two years. Prior to that, he was a defense counsel at Fort Stewart TDS for a year. His first assignment in the U.S. Army JAG Corps was as a legal assistance attorney at 3d Infantry Division for 10 months.

CPT Whitlock graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Government and East Asian Studies and a minor in Korean language. In December 2013, he was a member of the first graduating class of Texas A&M University School of Law. He was licensed as an attorney in Texas in May 2014 and in Florida in September 2018 and is a member in good standing of both Bars. CPT Whitlock served as an assistant district attorney on the Texas-Mexico border in the Rio Grande Valley for approximately five and a quarter years before joining the JAG Corps in January 2020.

CPT Whitlock was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for his time spent as SDC and he received an impact Army Achievement Medal for his work on a court-martial while a defense counsel at Fort Stewart.

CPT Whitlock is married and has one daughter.
