Hon. Irwin Cotler, Founder and International Chair of the Raoul Wallenberg Centre for Human Rights, an Emeritus Professor of Law at McGill University, former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada and longtime parliamentarian, and an international human rights lawyer. Prof Cotler has defended high-profile Prisoners of Conscience, including Nelson Mandela and Andrei Sakharov. He pioneered Canada’s first National Justice Initiative Against Racism and Hate, led groundbreaking human rights legislation, and played a key role in international justice efforts. Recognized with numerous honors, including the Israeli Presidential Medal of Honor and the Lantos Human Rights Prize, he remains a global advocate for justice, democracy, and human rights.
