Prof Peter A. Dutton
Peter Dutton is a Senior Research Scholar in Law and Senior Fellow in the Paul Tsai China Center at Yale Law School. He is also Professor Emeritus of International Law at the United States Naval War College, where he served as interim dean of the Center for Naval Warfare Studies and as director of the China Maritime Studies Institute. His research focuses on international law of the sea, Chinese views of sovereignty and international law, and China’s maritime expansion. He is a retired Navy Judge Advocate and former Naval Flight Officer. He holds a Ph.D. from King’s College London and a J.D. from the College of William & Mary. He holds affiliations with Harvard University’s Fairbank Center for China Studies and the US-Asia Law Institute at New York University School of Law.
