Professor Sean Watts, Co-Director of the Lieber Institute, will participate in this webinar event.
This virtual event, co-hosted by the International Committee of the Red Cross and the American Society of International Law’s Lieber Society on the Law of Armed Conflict, will involve a discussion of the ICRC’s updated commentary to the Third Geneva Convention, which was published in June 2020. The speakers will discuss the contemporary interpretations and application of the Convention and highlight specific provisions and the practical utility of the updated commentary. The discussion will be moderated by Michael W. Meier, Special Assistant to the Army Judge Advocate General for Law of War Matters, U.S. Army and Vice-Chair of the Lieber Society. In addition to Professor Watts, the panelists will include Cordula Droege, head of the Legal Division and Chief Legal Officer, ICRC; and Tess Bridgeman, Senior Fellow and Visiting Scholar at NYU Law School’s Reiss Center on Law and Security.
