2LT Jochem de Hoop
Second Lieutenant Jochem de Hoop is a Legal Advisor in the Royal Netherlands Army and a 2023 graduate of the Royal Military Academy. Before joining the military, he worked as a junior research associate for the Public International Law and Policy Group working on a legal roadmap concerning the downing of flight MH17. In addition, he worked as an intern for the Netherlands Defence Academy, where he researched shared responsibility for sharing intelligence in coalition operations, focusing on the Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR). His main legal interests are international responsibility, issues of IHL, and military law. Lieutenant de Hoop studied criminology and law at the VU Amsterdam and holds an LL.M. in Law and Politics of International Security from the same university.
