MAJ Evin Stovall
MAJ Evin Stovall is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Law and Philosophy at the United States Military Academy, West Point, New York. He is also the Executive Officer of the Lieber Institute for Law & Warfare. MAJ Stovall graduated from Virginia Wesleyan University in 2009 with a B.A. in History and Political Science. He then attended law school at the William & Mary School of Law and completed his J.D. in 2013. MAJ Stovall worked with the Norfolk, Virginia, Office of the City Attorney from 2013 to 2014 before joining the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corp in June 2014.
As a Judge Advocate, MAJ Stovall has served in several legal positions with diverse units. His assignments include Brigade Judge Advocate, 7th Transportation Brigade (Expeditionary), Fort Eustis, VA; Battalion Judge Advocate, 1st Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Campbell, KY; Chief of Legal Assistance, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Liberty, NC; Trial Counsel, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Liberty, NC; Operational Law Attorney, 82nd Airborne Division, Erbil, IZ; and Legal Assistance Attorney, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Liberty, NC. MAJ Stovall has three deployments to Iraq, Syria, and Jordan. He also has an LL.M. in Military Law from The Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School and an LL.M. focusing on National Security Law from Columbia Law School. He is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
