Five Years of Articles of War
Today marks the 5-year anniversary of the launch of Articles of War. When we began, we promised our readers “timely, clear, and thought-provoking perspectives on the law of armed conflict and related subjects.” We hope we have delivered on that promise. We will continue to do our very best to provide our shared field and readers a serious, informed, and respectful discourse on the pressing law of war issues of our time.
At this milestone, we proudly reflect on a journey defined by engagement, scholarship, and global reach. Since our inception, we have published nearly 900 posts from 466 contributors. With 55 percent of our readership based overseas, the site continues to resonate far beyond U.S. borders. We are honored that Articles of War features regularly in cadet instruction, including the West Point course, Law of Armed Conflict for Commanders, and as the course book for our Advanced Law of Armed Conflict course.
Finally, we wish to express our profound thanks to everyone involved in this project. Articles of War would not be possible without the unwavering support of our co-founder and most especially our authors who give so generously of their time and talent. We also extend our sincere thanks to our readers for connecting with us—whether through the website or by subscribing to our weekly overview—as we look to the future of this important conversation.
We’re thrilled by the prospect of working with you and continuing to serve our important field.
